Lack of tax understanding The majority of foreign-born taxpayers fail to record their earned and unearned income on US tax returns; failing to file an FBAR with FinCEN will result in fines ranging from $12,459 to $1,24,588, as well as possible criminal charges. Reporting of FBAR (Foreign Bank Account Reporting) with FinCEN 114 is required (Financial Crimes Enforcement Network). Due to their inexperience and lack of FBAR understanding, the majority of tax advisors do not advise their clients to submit FBAR, which forces them to pay significant fines to the IRS and FinCEN.
Tax experts who are unfamiliar with FBAR are unable to assist taxpayers in filing FBARs with FinCEN since they would expect payment. For tax year 2021, the IRS has prohibited unreimbursed employee business costs and increased the standard deduction for all filing status. As a result of these restrictions, the IRS has become more attentive and has instituted tough procedures to punish taxpayers with severe fines. Since we have been working with FBAR and IRS penalty cases for a while, we can proudly claim that we have frequently been able to persuade the tax departments to waive or lessen the fines.
In the process of tax return evaluation our team will work accurately to disclose the mistakes that were made by other preparers and identify ways to reduce the tax bill that others may skip. We also cross check with your tax returns for the last four years so as to evaluate consistency, accuracy and make sure that you can achieve the following things without fail. Check whether all potential credits and deductions have been claimed. Check whether all the forms are filled correctly or not. Alerting the client whether or not the original tax return is correct.
Assuring the client of the possible effects of the errors reported. Notifying the consumer if the refund justifies the expense of the change. Vast majority of our clients benefit from reduced tax liabilities with the help of diligent planning and legal tax strategies.
Every year, millions of taxpayers receive IRS audit notices. It can be daunting to receive a notification or letter from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The IRS can be extremely intimidating, and at the first notice of an IRS letter, many individuals find themselves overwhelmed with stress. Rather than scrambling to compile years of financial documents and income tax returns, taxpayers facing an audit should retain the services of an experienced audit representative. The IRS will notify the taxpayer first by mail if the taxpayer has been randomly selected for an audit.
The letter will have the contact information and detailed instructions on how to respond to the audit. In the initial letter, the IRS will request specific documents to proceed with the audit. The Internal Revenue Service may conduct the audit in person if the taxpayer doesn't respond to the document request by mail. Audits can take anywhere from six months to a year or more. The length of the audit depends on the nature of and circumstances surrounding the audit.
Due to a lack of tax expertise, the majority of resident alien taxpayers with dependents on H1, L1, and GC who reside abroad miss out on dependent tax benefits and credits. Taxpayers can save thousands of dollars by claiming dependent tax benefits; we can provide you with the right advice and the necessary paperwork so you can obtain your ITIN. What is an ITIN? The Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) is how the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) keeps track of certain taxpayers in the United States. It is like the student numbers issued by colleges to identify their students. ITINs are not issued automatically. You would not have an ITIN unless you applied for one in the past.
ITINs, or individual taxpayer identification numbers, are tax identification numbers used to file self-employment tax returns and to record income, claim dependents, and claim tax treaties.
ITINs are only used for personal tax-related purposes, in contrast to SSNs, which can be used for a variety of things. Dependents (children, close relatives, etc.) must have resided in the United States for longer than 183 days in order to apply for an ITIN, though there are rare exceptions.
The preferred documents required to apply ITIN is 1. passport 2. tax returns, and 3. form W7 (ITIN application) and the documents can be mailed to IRS. If a tax payer is uncomfortable to mail the documents the documents can also be submitted at the TAC-Taxpayer assistance centre which is your local IRS office. The documents can be submitted at TAC by the way of walking in or by appointment.
